Summer of Coding

So I’ve decided to dedicate my summer to learning a bit of code, specifically Ruby on Rails and Javascript (and brushing up on my HTML and CSS of course).

I have no actual background in CS or coding; I’m a business student from NEU, spending the summer in NYC for internships, but also to meet people in the nyc tech community.

I’ve been interested in the tech scene for a while now, and despite my business background, I’ve always had a passion for design. That’s where the HTML5 and Javascript will come in, but I also think it will be fun to learn Ruby so I can broaden my understanding of what hardcore back-end engineers have to do on a regular basis (although I’ve heard Ruby is becoming more standard now than other languages such as Python, could’ve been a personal opinion but I will keep that in mind.)

After a really awesome Skillshare class, From N00b to Tech CEO: All the programming that you need to know, taught by Kareem Amin I decided to test myself beyond the basic Codeacademy tutorials and seriously focus on getting Ruby down by the end of summer.

So that’s my task. I will keep you updated along the way.
